Even then I feel spell towers are less tedius to upkeep in massive amounts than the goblin turrets since spell towers just need ammo and atleast 2 gennies powered near it, while the goblin ones each need more refilling with contracts than a set of spell gennies.Taban Miniatures has just announced the imminent release of the first limited edition resin model for a new range under their distribution, Masters Miniatures. I am afraid that by the time you are able to craft ballistas you will already have access to spelltowers. I think the actual problem is how long it takes to level up the skill.
If you are going to defend big base with it I think you are doing it wrong. You can only use normal arrows in ballista, which deal 55 damage to a target without any armor and can be easily avoided. They advertised that ballista is meant to be a step before you acquire spelltowers.
No easy maintenance that makes grind less what i actually had hoped for Goblin ballista was never meant to be an endgame mean of defense for a large base. So we are again facing massive grinding to maintain something in this game (next to farms, shields, towers and farming for iron hook arrows). And if you have a larger base that amount isn't even remotely enough to even cover every direction with a single ballista.
